Introducing Vitamin E

Since my last update regarding my health I have introduced a vitamin E supplement into my diet. A daily dose of 200ius, this is way over the 15ius which is the daily recommended dose in the uk.

Vitamin E is a most important lipid antioxidant, it binds oxygen and protects the fats in out bodies from the damaging effects of uncontrolled oxidation, peroxides and free radicals. These peroxides attack body cells, immune cells and cholesterol, reducing resistance and causing the degenerative diseases of ageing, such as cancer, heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, and diabetes.

I feel much more protected from chest infections using vitamin e, and I will defiantly be using it though the winter months. My own health is much the same, but without chest infection thankfully, knowing that vitamin e can extend life.

Eat, fast and live longer

This should be an interesting program, tonight at 9pm on BBC 2. Michael Mosley examines the science behind fasting, as he sets himself the ambitious goal of living longer, staying younger and losing weight without changing his lifestyle. I will add my comments after I have seen the program.

After viewing the program it would seem that fasting two days a week, and eating normally on the other five will reduce fatness in the body so ensuring protection against diseases such as cancer, and heart disease, thus reducing ageing . On fasting days no more than 500 calories should be consumed. I think I could manage this and may give it a try. What do you think?
